Early mornings were the best part of the day for Charlotte, she loved the view of the pink and orange sun peaking over the edges of the eastern horizon. It reminded her of sherbert ice cream, her favorite. It always brought back memories of the good old days when she would sit on the front porch of the house on Sunday afternoons with her younger brother. They would share stories and laugh until the sun went down, or until they got stomach aches or headaches from overpowering brain freezes. A tiny smirk formed across her lips, but it quickly went away. That's all gone now.
The birds were out, chirping and fussing over food in the damp soil next to the lake. It was cool out, and the morning spring dew was still covering the grass with little clear droplets of water. Charlotte dug her long pale fingers into some dirt near the lake shore. She searched for a moment, not caring or bothered by her muddy hands, until she found what she was looking for. She glanced over at some birds. "You guys are going to be mad at me. I'm stealing your breakfast." Worms. They wriggled and curled their moist bodies around on her palms. Charlotte placed them into a plastic container next to her bare feet. She now had eight fresh worms.
Charlotte plopped herself down on the ground, with her feet in the shallow part of the water. Her jeans were rolled up to her knees, and her thick red hair was pulled back into a messy bun. Fishing seemed like such a normal thing to do after such a long year of moving and changing schools. Changing lives. She rolled her black sweater sleeves up to her elbows and grabbed her fishing pole. She baited her line, pulled her arm back, and casted way out in the deeper part of the lake. The orange bobber swayed and dunked with the ripples of the water. Charlotte let out a deep breath. "It's so peaceful." She murmured.
Charlotte waited for a bite, leaning herself up against a nearby tree. She stared at the sky, trying not worry herself over the new town, the new school she would have to attend on Monday. She set her boots and container of worms beside her, and just waited. Not realizing that there was a small bird making his way slowly over to peck at her worms.

Times were difficult on everyone, especially in this town of Lipton. For her, she recalled the memories in her life when she, her sister, and brother were living in their home where it seemed like it was perfect. Her mother was off sometimes but in her young age, Sophia did not understand it. Typical, the thought of the surroundings being the ideal style of living, at youth. Sophia remembered days that her father was never there, then weeks, and even months all at once. It didn't actually bother her when she wondered where he could be. As she grew older though, one day her father burst through the door was falling all over then place. Then she knew what was at stake or what had been about all her life -her and her father's relationship - and would continue to be that way as long as he was that way.
Sophia lived here long before she could remember. She knew the place quite well. Walking near a lake in the proximity of her residence she was just dawdling around, hoping over tree stems and such. Coming nearer to the lake she noticed a figure with their back turned in her path. Eyes dropping to the ground she could see worms in a container, dirty boots and a small bird crept on the container of wriggling earthworms. Sophia made a disturbed face and then giggled unexpectedly, quickly covering her mouth afterwards.
Trying to remain hidden Sophia wriggled her fingers outward to try to catch the bird's attention. But it slowly sneaked up over to the container of worms next to the person. By her figure Sophia figured that it could have been a female. "A bird is trying to sneak a worm or two." Sophia spoke a little louder than usual, as she pointed down to the bird so the person can see it.

Charlotte jumped at the sound of a small voice behind her, dropped the fishing rod and rolled back into the dirt. "Huh?" She quickly flipped over onto her stomach and held her neck at a painful angle to get a glimpse of the source of the noise. Her eyes darted from the person-a girl-back to the bird who was now flapping away with a wriggling worm. "Aw, shoot." She muttered, her eyebrows forming those all to familiar frustrated creases.
She felt the uneasiness forming in her gut. Charlotte's social life had literally vanished over the past couple of years because of her mother. And because of her mother, she had no intentions of rebuilding it. "You could at least warn a person before you sneak up on them like that." She said sourly as she hopped up on the balls of her feet. "Damn, I nearly pissed myself." Charlotte glared, slamming the lid onto the container of worms, tossing them next to her boots. She opened her mouth to make another snappy comment when her fishing rod began to move toward the water. Something was pulling it.
Charlotte caught a glimpse of the runaway rod and made a dive for it. Frantically, she grabbed for it, just missing it by inches. "Crap!" She scrambled her body forward, but it was already almost halfway in the lake. Charlotte got to her feet and ran for it, her feet splashing into the water. She made another grab for it, caught it, and began reeling the line in as fast as she could. "Come on!" When the line was completely reeled in, Charlotte pulled on the line, but it resisted. She made small yanks on the line, but after a few weak tugs, she lost her patience.
Charlotte gripped the fishing rod tightly in her hands, threw her arms back, and pulled the line as hard as she could. The fish, about the size of her boot, came flying out of the water. She ducked instinctively as it flew well above her head. Charlotte watched as the fish made its way toward the stranger who had caused this entire mess. "It's going to slap you in the face if you don't move princess!" She hollered.
((OOC: Sorry it took awhile, I was away on a trip. ))

Sophia mashed her features together into a rather sympathetic and uncomfortable look. She could see this girl had no issue getting herself dirty. As the girl spotted the culprit of the disaster and became annoyed with the bird flying away with her bait, her own stomach churned as she knew she was in trouble. "Aw, shoot." She heard the girl mumble under her breath and shook her head as her hands shot through the air in front of her, as if she were surrendering.
"I'm so sorry," Sophia said caringly, dropping her hands to her sides she was clearly not happy with herself. For some reason the girl just would not stop. I did say I was sorry, do you need me to hold your hand too?" She responded to the girl in response to warning a person rather than catching them off guard. As the female glared at her following the comment and snapping the lid over the container, Sophia sighed. When the red head went to mouth another sarcastic statement to strengthen her point Sophia smirked and stomped her foot. The retorts just kept on coming didn't they.
Seeing the light turned heavy commotion the girl was carrying on with to capture a fish, she only laughed. Seeing her yelling for the line to come in to her faster it was crazy, the while situation was. "Pull on it harder darling, use some muscle! With an attitude like yours I'm sure you're stronger than that, right?!" Sophia shouted through her hands, each on opposite sides of her mouth.
She smirked as the girl shouted "princess!" Sophia was not that girly and definitely not a princess. Standing her ground she held out her hands a nice distance in front of herself as the wet, slimy fish came flying at her. It slammed right between her parted hands and she flew backwards, landing on her back. "Ouch!" Sophia complained as she felt her back meet the dirt and soon after, the fish slipped from her hands and landed on her face.
